Summary of this Sunday’s talk:
We all know more than we live up to. We all want more than we have. Knowledge is a map, not a key.
Walking on the roads as indicated on the map, is the process of life, the choice in life. Then we may discover we don’t need any keys. The doors are already open.
Heaven has to come from the inside. It has to live inside first, before it can show itself in external things.
The beauty that we long for never goes away. It is still there. Letting go of high expectations does not mean dropping them. That love… is never in question.
Religion often present a picture of spiritual growth that is black and white. Either we are good or we are evil. Either we are internal or we are external. This leaves us little room to maneuver. It is either-or. We can’t respond to this easily. We can’t go from being completely black to being completely white. We can’t force heaven.
But there is a staircase: a Jacob’s ladder.
It reaches from the hard ground where we are all the way up to heaven. Angels are on that staircase to guide us wherever we want to go.
The only step that matters is the one we are on now, today. A small step. And small steps are easy to take.
