Stephen Muires has a Masters of Divinity degree from the Academy of the New Church Theological School, in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, USA, year 2008-2011. He is currently located in Stockholm, Sweden, and works for the Nya Kyrkan in Stockholm.
Stephen Muires was born in 1963, in Holland. He has lived in Denmark and the USA for most of his adult life. Coming from a career in software engineering his path in life was re-aligned when coming into contact with the works of Emanuel Swedenborg. Leaving Denmark and a job in computers, he and his family moved to the USA. He graduated in 2011.
The stay in the USA was very fruitful. An interest that was born there is a deep love for the Native American flute and the spiritual traditions that this instrument is connected to. He also plays the Anasazi flute from the American Southwest, as well as the Japanese shakuhachi.
A further skill acquired in the States is leading small spiritual growth groups. From the traditions of many tribal cultures comes the art of sitting in council. This can for example be applied to reading groups, where a book or a sacred text is studied. Or it can be applied to men’s groups, where men share their struggles going through this earth existence.
